Student Leadership

Student Council Vice President

Elected by my peers, I participate in the Student Council as the Vice President. Meeting each Thursday in the fall and spring terms and every Monday in the winter term, we engage ourselves to build towards our community. We had organized the Rectory's First Annual Talent Show. Planning to host the dance in February, we devised dress-down ideas that celebrate school spirit.

Dorm Proctor

Setting an example by my actions, I as a dorm proctor guide and support everyone. Frequently collaboration with my partner and dorm parents, I would always be an option available to offer help.

Head Waiter

Starting in the spring term of 2022-23, I go to the dining hall at 5:30 for student waiters. Serving 3 tables on my first day, I mastered my skills by serving up to 5 tables. I explored different ways to format the table and invented a method to fold napkins quickly and easily to decorate. Chosen to become one of three Head Waiters, I coordinate with the Administrator on Duty, dining hall staffs, and student waiters. We together created the shadow program to engage more participation and more experience.

Admission Ambassador

As an Admission Ambassador, I tour prospective students and participate in the Student Panel. More than introducing them with a deeper perspective,

Interests

Poetry

Improving on my literature expressions through poetry, I explore myself in both reading and creating poetry. Finding the conciseness and beauty within, I experiment with language to illustrate a snapshot or an eloquently detailed painting.

Violin

Being a violinist for nine years, I participate in Rectory Orchestra and a student-led chamber group member. As a profound member of both organizations, I focus on collaboration and enriching musical textures.

Photography

By learning every details of film photography, I was motivated to join Photography Elective. After having a deepening understanding of lighting, developing, and framing, I enhanced my interest to an accessible tool, a phone. Using both pre-installed pro mode in the phone and black and white film, I use hues and contrasts as compositions of my emotions.

Athletics

Cross Country

After fighting with my allergies, I performed a great season in Cross Country. Improving from 15 minutes for 1.5 miles to 14:28 for 2.1 miles, I put in dedication and effort to push myself every time.

Foil Fencing

Trying out for foil fencing for last winter, I pushed myself to the best. Winning most of my bouts, I practiced to fence with left-handed and strengthened myself. After being awarded as the Most Improved Player, I was elected as the Captain for the following season. Leading the team and cheering everyone up, I encourage others and pursue improvements.

Golf

Golfing is such an interesting sport that allows you to be determined to react to different situations. Training my performance under each condition, I improved Gold over the last spring and look forward to it.
